Customer Experiences with The Mad Hatter, Inc.

“We just had new chimney caps installed and I wanted to let you know how happy we were with the service. Juan led the crew and provided great customer service. He was timely, courteous and very personable. He took the time to explain what they were going to do, how long it would take, and he asked for our input on certain items. He is a great representative of your company, and as a result of his great customer service, we will strongly recommend Mad Hatter to our friends, and we look forward to future work with Mat Hatter.”

“We have had, for the past 4 years, a leak in our chimney that ran water down the inside wall to the finished basement damaging the ceiling and walls every time it rained. We have paid general contractors over $3,000 to install additional flashing around the chimney, caulk the sides of Hardi Plank and roof repair at the chimney, but could not find the problem. Your technician found that the builder did not install the right rain pan on the top, and water was running down the inside of the chimney. You gave us a quote and we accepted it for a speedy repair. Since then, we have been thru more than a dozen rain storms that would have soaked the walls and basement floor. I can attest that we are dry and extremely satisfied with your service.”

“I have used your Company for chimney cleaning for many years. One of my fireplaces was a ‘fire hazard’ and unusable so finally I began doing my homework for replacing the existing with something new. From the beginning, I dealt with Fred, and he was nothing but professional from the start. I would have a question, email him, and by morning, I would have my answer. The fireplace had to be taken out, and redone, Francisco, & John came out and worked diligently for 3 days. They were the BEST, and I now have a very large and gorgeous fireplace. I just wanted you to know what a good job they did and what nice people they are. I am very happy and pleased.”

Home Services Review Consumer Tips:

  1. The Chimney Safety Institute of America recommends that you have your chimney inspected annually by an expert in the industry.
  2. If after inspection, it is determined that the chimney needs cleaning, the cleaning typically should remove byproducts of combustion such as soot and creosote, and cleaning helps to maintain draft so dangerous fumes can exit your home, thus helping to prevent chimney fires.
  3. Cleaning equipment for chimneys is as varied as the people that work in the profession. Most equipment will consist of specially designed brushes and/or power cleaning tools suitable for both the type of chimney being swept and the type of residue being removed. Professional chimney services use industrial vacuums for airborne dust control. Drop cloths or other means are also generally used to protect the homeowner’s furnishings.
  4. The type of chimney and the appliance venting into it, including time taken for vent cleaning, will determine how long it takes to sweep (clean), but a general average is about 45 minutes to 2 hours. Inspection of the chimney and documentation may add to the length of the service.
