Replacing Doors In Your Home

By Carrie Dixon, Blog Editor

In the case that you are in need of exterior or indoor doors there are many things to think about before hand. Are you replacing your doors with new, customized, and/or pre-hung doors? We’ve come up with a list of tools that you can use when embarking on this task.

Entry Doors:  The entry door of your house has to not only be functional, separating the outside world from the comfort of your home, but it also has to give the right first impression. Visitors to your house will see the exterior doors before they see anything you’ve done to the interior.

Designs: Tasteful designs welcome people to your home. It will increase the property value and your neighbors will appreciate it too.

Customizing: For ‘custom doors’, do not make a large down payment (more then 50%), as this may indicate that the specialty door contractor may have potential credit issues and may be trying to use your money to finance the purchase of your materials or doors from their manufacturer suppliers.

Pre-Hung’s: What is a Pre-Hung Door? Doors or combinations of doors and sidelights put together with jambs, hinges, threshold, T-Astragal, and trim to make a total working door system.

French Doors: What is a French door? A door with glass panels separated by wood frames (one light, five light, six light, eight light, ten light or fifteen light).
