(1) Custom built cabinets or refinishing of your existing cabinets can add value to your home. The cost can vary greatly, so have a plan or a wish list : hardware, hinges, pull-outs, glass doors, colors, materials, style of doors and drawers, posts or corbels, trim and moldings, paint, or stain; there is so much to consider.
(2) When speaking to a contractor about new, custom built cabinets or refinishing existing cabinets, make sure you know exactly what is included in the quote they provide you. A typical refacing job should include the removal of current cabinet doors and drawers, painting, or sanding and staining your current cabinets and installation of doors and hardware.
(3) New cabinet hardware and hinges add a nice finishing touch to your project. They can make refinished cabinets look like brand new custom built cabinets.
(4) Granite Product/Material: Granite is an igneous rock, which means it was once molten and formed as it cooled deep within the earth. It is composed primarily of Quartz and Feldspar. Customer demand for granite countertops in the home has sky-rocketed over the past several years and has become the first choice for today’s kitchen designer. Synthetic solid surface materials are no match for the richness, depth and a uniqueness that natural granite has to offer. Granite is available in a striking array of colors that are unique from piece to piece. Granite’s durability and longevity make it ideal for kitchen countertops and other heavily used surfaces. Granite is heat resistant, scratch resistant to freezing and thawing and also does not harbor bacteria.
(5) Marble Product/Material: Marble is granular limestone or dolomite. It is formed when foreign elements enter into the stone during the process of recrystallization. These elements establish countless unique variations in colors, asters and veining. Because of it’s beauty, marble is ideal for vanities, fireplaces, tub decks, shower walls and even furniture. Because marble is notably more porous and delicate than granite, we do not recommend marble in a working kitchen.
(6) Make sure the company you select has fabricators and installers that are experts in their craft and have a portfolio of pictures and recommendations from satisfied customers. It is imperative you pick a company with fabricators and installers that can complete the countertop work with ‘seamless surfaces’.
(7) The best companies will come to your home to obtain ‘exact’ measurements with your input (on site) on how you want the stone patterns and provide a free written proposal for your final approval. Do not work with a company that attempts to rely on ‘over the phone’ measurements and proposals.
