Tony Addy's High Pressure Wash

(1) Too much water pressure can cause damage to wooden decks, fences, and siding.
(2) Select a sealant company you feel comfortable with, and never contract with someone to do work if they don’t at first visit your home to provide a quote.
(3) Quality products are a must for deck cleaning and sealer/preservatives.
(4) Keep in mind sealant will waterproof your wood, and stain will give it UV protection. It is best to apply the two separately.
(5) Always find out what kind of product is going to be applied to your deck. There are oil, water and even silicone based sealants. It is important to understand the difference.
(6) After a pressure treated deck has been built, it is necessary to wait at least 4 to 6 months before applying any type of sealant.
(7) Everyone knows you need to seal your deck, but don’t forget about fences, play sets, driveways, garage floors, patios and basement walls.
(8) Get all guarantees, warranties and promises in writing.
(9) A one-time application should form a permanent bond with wood, concrete and masonry, creating a protective barrier against damaging elements and chemicals.
(10) Use a company with qualified employees who are well trained in the procedures needed to clean and preserve your wooden decks, fences, and siding.
(11) Ask the company for customer references who have had work performed similar to yours.
(12) A contractor should be able to tell you what products and materials he would likely use for your project. He should also offer you several options (when applicable) when selecting products, materials and techniques.
(13) When comparing estimates or proposals, make sure each one is based on (a) same scope of work, (b) same set of specifications, (c) same set of plans. If your contractor suggests deviations, ask that they be presented as options.
